Improvisation in street photography

In photography, street photography has become a style in itself.
Contrary to usual photography where you place everything as in a painting, in street photography, you walk outside and wait for the subject to come. It is a type of improvisation, you have to react to whatever happens, and be prepared for everything.

This documentary is really good,  it shows how street photographs proceed and why they proceed that way.

One interesting photographer is Bruce Gilden :

“In street photography, you gotta have luck, but there’s a lot of work involved in order to be lucky” -  Jeff Mermelstein

This quote from street photographer Jeff Mermelstein echoes the saying of Joelle Leandre who said that in improvised music, you are always in a hurry, you never know what is going to happen next so you're just hoping it will be good, but if you've worked enough, it almost always happens to be good.
